Third Reich Sights

Berlin was the seat of what Hitler called the "Thousand Year Reich" for only twelve years, but the period of Nazi Germany resulted in one of the greatest tragedies of unprecedented proportions that the world has ever seen.

This tour explores Berlin under National Socialism from 1933-1945. We dive into how the Nazis were able to seize power in Germany's post-WWI overheated political atmosphere and the extreme lengths to which they went to hold onto that power.

Although several buildings from this period are gone, there are still some that remain, as well as various streets, historical structures and monuments that have a direct connection to this tragic past. See what's left of Göring's Air Ministry (Luftwaffe), Göbbel's Propaganda Minstry and the remains of Himmler's SS and Gestapo.

With the help of visual aids, you'll get a 'then and now' perspective of this tumultuous past in order to help you gain a deeper understanding of it and see how Berlin confronts its history today

Finally, we'll unravel the last days of the Battle of Berlin, make our way to the site of Hitler's bunker, and see the exact spot where WWII in Europe ended.

Germany is an anatomical oddity: it writes with its left hand and acts with its right“ - Kurt Tucholsky
